David Johnson is a highly accomplished professional in the field of education consulting, social justice, and equity. I have the honor of collaborating with Dr. Johnson through our shared board service with Students of Service. I worked with David as my coach for most of 2025, during a pivotal year in my journey as a school founder. What began as a coaching engagement for extra hours for his PCC certification quickly became an essential support system for me. David has a way of quietly offering frameworks and ideas: “Have you heard of this?” “What happens if you look this up?” He'd leave these gifts on the virtual table, without expectation. I almost always picked them up.

He brings deep experience as an educator, but never imposes it. That balance, gentle insight, intuitive listening, thoughtful resourcefulness, and a lovely sense of humour created a space where I could bloom as a leader. He also shared his number one rule for educators: love your students unconditionally. That’s stayed with me.

David is a bit like a collector’s vehicle—well built, carefully maintained, knows the roads, reliable and full of character. I would highly recommend him for 1:1 executive coaching, group coaching, or facilitation. He is a rare gem.

David Johnson is an asset to the educational community and I am thankful for the time I have been able to spend with him collaborating for a brighter future for the students of SUNY Potsdam.  During my time on the SUNY Potsdam Alumni Board of Trustees, I knew that I always had a kindred spirit working on the College Foundation Board in David.  David was very involved with the Foundation Board during our most successful capital campaign and during the Bicentennial Celebration of our Alma Mater.  David supported me as an officer on the Alumni Board as I worked to have our trustees enhance their knowledge of diversity and inclusion so they were more aware of their role and impact, not just with our alumni, however our current students as well.  I also was able to see David's breadth of knowledge of education on the broad scale in elementary, secondary and higher education settings through our conversations during board weekends.  David is the type of partner you want as you work to transform your community of education.
